A Silly Yiddish Story.

Yiddish (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I was in high school and had a half day.  On the way home, I stopped at my grandparents in Flatbush for lunch.

Grandma and Grandpa argued all the time in Yiddish.  I was eating my boiled chicken and French Fries.

Something made me interrupt them, to this day, I have no idea what.  ikh bet dikh ohyfer kirgn zikh (please stop arguing) roughly.

I had never successfully stopped them before and they turned on me at once.  If you remember The Three Stooges routine Niagara Falls, you get the drift.

They both told me to mind my own business.  They went back to arguing, I returned to eating.  Cut and dried.
