You may think I’m mad.  Maybe, but think this one through.  The President has the authority to have deeper Federal enforcement of background checks for buying a gun and having public service spots and educational programs run by the Secretaries of Health and Education.

One of the goals of the National Rifle Association is firearm safety.  Like the old song, Why Can’t We Be Friends, or Rodney King‘s “Can’t we all just get along,”  Why can’t President Obama and the National Rifle Association work together on this one?

If the President sticks to safety and education, he can enlist the National Rifle Association to help.  Step back from the abyss folks.  Congress wouldn’t even have to be involved.  No bill involved.  The President can use his executive authority and nothing is banned.  The National Rifle Association is not reviled but can help out with firearm education and safety.

What’s wrong with not doing this?
