Now that I write, I look at the Super Bowl with a different eye. I am amazed by the fact that the game is watched worldwide, with almost as many viewers as the World Cup Final.
I paid attention to all the pre game ritual. The eye black on the players and the jumping up and down and dancing. It resembles the Haka, the Maori war dance the New Zealand National Rugby Team, the All Blacks does before matches.
The game pushes teamwork, timing and obeying instructions. It teaches lessons beyond football. Loyalty to teammates, and hard work. A young man from a poor and or troubled background can work hard to build a better life.
Then, you have the half time show and the commercials. Unabashedly American.
