Until last weekend, visiting Vietnam would never have occurred to me. Then, I had a brainstorm. (More like a headache, but that’s another story).
My favorite cousin is married to a man, who spent seven years as a “guest” at the Hanoi Hilton. (To me, Jane Fonda is still the enemy). I’ve wanted to write my cousins’ biography. I suddenly thought, I would like to visit the place where Tom was held, just so I could see it.
It is inexpensive to visit Vietnam and then I looked at the rail travel site, The Man in Seat 61.
This is more a bucket list trip. When I can.
