What We Need Our Kids For?

The grouchy threesome on the number 8 bus going to work, were mumbling about kids.  (I’m included in this threesome).  Peter was complaining about his son going for a PhD in some liberal arts field, saying he wants to teach.

Peter, is grumpy in the best of times.  “Who’s gonna support me when I can’t work anymore?”

Well here is a silly idea.  Forget Social Security.  By law, as you have to invest in your kids future, once they start working, they have to pay a tithe to help support you in your future.  You want to go on Elderhostel trips, your kids can fund them.  Your end of life care?  Your kids.  As much as an American has to shell out to raise kids, it only seems fair.

But it will never happen.  We just continued to be silly and entertain the back of the bus, which has become for the over 50 crowd.  No young whippersnappers here! 😛
