Honey Badgers

Yesterday, I watched a show on PBS Nature about Honey Badgers.  This was in South Africa, in and around Kruger National Park.

The show especially followed two in a reserve near the park.  Their names are Stoffel and Hammy.  Nice Afrikaner Honey Badgers.

They are smart and fearless.  You leave food around, they will be there.  Humans provide a major source for them.    They would invade lodges in the park and the garbage dumps.

One beekeeper is trying to invent a method for protecting hives.  Stoffel was stumped, but not Hammy.  Must have needed a woman’s touch.

They will take on lions and giraffes.  The tragedy would be local beekeepers and farmers wipe these clever animals out, because they really are a threat to their livelihoods.

Nice Afrikaner ratels.
